Best SQE prep app: SQE1 and SQE2 in your pocket, with a student holding an Android phone
Share

App availability and free account features checked on 18 October 2026.

The best SQE prep app for you should make it easier to practise the things the exam asks you to do. For SQE1, that means applying legal rules to unfamiliar facts. For SQE2, it means producing clear advice and legal work. A useful app turns the gaps in your day into focused revision, then helps you return to longer practice sessions with a clearer idea of what needs work.

Quick answer
  • Choosing an SQE app? Check its syllabus coverage, answer explanations, mock exams, free allowance and fit with your routine.
  • FQPS is available on Android phones and tablets through Google Play. The iPhone and iPad app is coming soon; use the browser platform meanwhile.
  • Try before you commit: a free FQPS account includes two full SQE1 mocks, five daily practice questions and ten daily flashcards.
  • App download offer: get one month of SQE audiobooks free when you download the FQPS Android app.

This is FQPS Academy’s guide to choosing a revision app, including our own. It is a practical checklist rather than an independent ranking of every provider. Use the free material to decide whether the teaching and practice suit you.

What makes a good SQE preparation app?

An attractive interface is useful if it helps you start studying. What matters next is what happens when you get an answer wrong. Can you identify the rule you missed, understand why another option was better and find the relevant revision material? If the app only shows a score, you still have most of the learning to do yourself.

Start with the official SQE1 specification. It requires application of law to practical problems through single-best-answer questions. Use the SQE2 specification to check the practical skills you need. Choose tools that help you rehearse those tasks.

What can you do in the FQPS Android app?

The FQPS SQE preparation app brings your revision and practice into the same account you use on the web. It is available for Android phones and tablets. Sign in with your existing FQPS account to access your study plan, progress and the features included in your plan.

SQE1

Recall, then apply

Use revision cards, flashcards, MCQs and FLK1 and FLK2 mocks to move from knowing a principle to choosing an answer.

SQE2

Practise the skills

Access oral and written practice according to your plan. Give speaking and written tasks the quiet space and attention they need.

Your routine

Know the next task

Follow your study plan and continue across your phone, tablet and computer using the same account.

For SQE1, try a small set of practice questions and read the explanations before moving on. For SQE2, explore the preparation options and decide which tasks need a keyboard, a microphone or a longer uninterrupted session. Access to full materials, coaching and feedback depends on your plan.

What SQE content can you try for free?

Downloading FQPS is free. Creating a free account gives you a defined starting point: one full FLK1 mock, one full FLK2 mock, five daily practice questions, ten daily flashcards, a sample syllabus and a seven-day study plan. The two mock credits are a one-off signup allocation, separate from the daily allowances.

That is enough to test the experience properly. Use the daily questions to inspect explanations, the flashcards to check the style of recall prompts and a mock to see how you handle a longer set. Free access is a sample of the platform; it does not unlock every course feature.

For a complete starting routine, use our guide to free SQE1 revision resources. It combines official samples, free FQPS practice and a seven-day plan.

The audiobook offer gives you a reason to try a different way of revising. Audio works well as a prompt to revisit a topic; follow it with recall and questions so you can see what you have understood. Our SQE audiobook revision guide includes a practical listening routine.

Is there an SQE app for iPhone and iPad?

The FQPS iOS app is coming soon to the Apple App Store. An App Store release date has not been announced here. For now, iPhone and iPad users can create a free account in their browser and use the web platform. The live store download in this article is for Android.

If you already study on a laptop, keep that account rather than creating a separate one for each device. When you use FQPS on another device, sign in with the same details to continue with your existing access and progress.

How to test an SQE prep app in 20 minutes

  1. Pick one topic. Choose something you have studied recently so you can judge the explanation fairly.
  2. Answer a short question set. Commit to an answer before opening the explanation. Record guesses as well as mistakes.
  3. Review the reasoning. Identify the fact that changes the answer and write the rule in your own words.
  4. Check recall. Use the flashcards, or close the app and explain the topic without your notes.
  5. Choose your next session. Schedule a longer question set or mock review. Decide whether the app makes that next step easier.

This is a suggested product trial, not a measure of exam readiness. One good session tells you whether the app is useful to you; readiness needs evidence across subjects and sustained practice.

Use mobile revision alongside longer practice

A phone is convenient for five questions while you wait for a train. A full mock needs a protected block of time. Written SQE2 work may be more comfortable with a keyboard, and oral practice needs somewhere you can speak freely. Give each task the conditions it deserves.

Before choosing a paid plan, check what support you need beyond mobile access. Our SQE1 preparation page, SQE2 preparation page and pricing page explain the available options. Use your free sessions to make that decision with something more concrete than a feature list.
