"The Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) is a single, rigorous assessment for all aspiring solicitors. The SQE will mean that everyone who becomes a solicitor will meet the same high standards in a consistent way."

About The Solicitors Qualifying Examination - SRA

Registration Process

The registration process for the SQE involves three steps:

01

Registration

Register at the SQE website with the SRA and Kaplan. You’ll need a valid photo ID at this point (e.g. a passport, photo driving licence, or government-issued ID).

02

Pre-booking

Once you’ve registered, you need to pre-book. This involves completing a diversity survey (not mandatory), telling the SRA about any SQE exemptions you might have, and requesting any reasonable adjustments you’ll require to sit your exams.

03

Booking with Pearson VUE

The computer-based SQE1 exam takes place at a number of test centres around the world. Once you’ve registered and pre-booked, you need to sign in to your SQE account online to view the assessment centres available to you. Choose your preferred location and book your space.

Please note that you will need to go through the pre-booking process for both SQE1 and SQE2 separately. You can only pre-book and book SQE2 once you’ve passed SQE1 (unless you are exempt from SQE1).

SQE Exam Results & Fees

SQE Exam Fees

The cost to take SQE1 is £1,622 and for SQE2 it is £2,493.
Please note that the cost will increase by 11% in 2023/24, with candidates paying £1,798 to take SQE1 and £2,766 for SQE2.

SQE Assessment Results
