Job Description

Legal Manager

Location: Birmingham

About the role

Are you a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with experience in housing law, looking for an opportunity to make a real difference?

At GreenSquareAccord, we're looking for an experienced Legal Manager to join our in-house Legal Services team.

Working closely with our Head of Legal, you'll play a key role in providing expert legal advice across the organisation, supporting colleagues with complex housing matters and helping us deliver effective, practical legal solutions.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a varied role where you'll have the chance to influence legal processes, support business-wide improvements and contribute to an organisation committed to providing safe, quality homes and services for our customers.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing specialist legal advice on social housing matters, including tenancy management, possession proceedings, disrepair, anti-social behaviour (ASB) and property-related issues.

  • Supporting the Head of Legal with the management of external solicitors, legal counsel and legal service providers.

  • Leading reviews of housing litigation processes and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and service delivery.

  • Working closely with stakeholders across the business to provide practical, commercially aware legal advice.

  • Supporting the development of our in-house legal function, ensuring services are effective, compliant and deliver value for money.

  • Keeping up to date with housing legislation and regulatory changes, sharing knowledge and delivering training where required.

  • Supporting legal budget management and ensuring effective use of external legal resources.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical legal knowledge with a practical, approachable and collaborative working style.

You'll ideally bring:

  • A qualification as a Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX/Fellow) with appropriate post-qualification experience (PQE).

  • Experience working within an in-house legal function, ideally within social housing.

  • Strong knowledge of housing law, particularly housing litigation, possession, disrepair and tenancy-related matters.

  • A good understanding of the legal and regulatory framework affecting housing associations.

  • Experience managing relationships with external legal advisers and internal stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

  • The confidence to manage competing priorities, identify legal risks and provide clear, practical advice.

Above all, you'll be someone who enjoys building relationships, takes ownership of their work and wants to make a positive contribution to the wider business.
