About The Team & Role



Come and work for a worthwhile organisation, joining our award-winning Highways Team, responsible for varied portfolios of over £250 million including exciting projects such as the upgrade of M5 Junction 10, the County Councils 26 mile cycle spine and major geotechnical and structures schemes.



The Highways team play a vital role to ensure roads remain safe, are upgraded to encourage cycle and walking and are improved to reflect changing traffic patterns, development and aging assets.



You will make a difference as an Apprentice Assistant Project Manager in our Major Projects Team supporting on the development, planning and delivery of some of the most ambitious schemes the County has ever delivered. Leading the way in revitalising and delivering transport and infrastructure schemes around known and planned housing growth, working in partnership with central government, external agencies and district councils.


This post requires Level 3 or equivalent qualifications (A-Level, Diploma, BTEC). The Apprenticeship will include a two year level 4 Project Management qualification supported by our training partner Learning Curve, the two year apprenticeship incorporates formal training alongside more informal on the job learning.



About You



We are looking for those who will quickly understand the Gloucestershire context and can display their expertise and solid professional experience in achieving ambitious targets.


Relationship management will be fundamental and first class communication and negotiation skills, combined with commercial acumen. Whilst it may be beneficial to have local authority or civil engineering experience, you must also have the skills to work across varied disciplines such as legal, property, communications, or health, knowing your subject area well, so that you will be actively contributing from day one.

The work will be intense and fast paced; we will expect you to think on your feet and be ready to tackle challenges to grow the County’s vision.
