Job Description

The vacancy

Moore Barlow is seeking a Legal Assistant to join our Court of Protection team in Southampton (Chandlers Ford). Our Southampton location is home to one of our largest offices, with a bright, open-plan working space and on site restaurant and coffee shop offering a blend of homemade meals and sweet treats.

About us

Moore Barlow's purpose is to make a difference. We strive to deliver our services to Clients using empathy and expertise, developing long term relationships. Our strong commercial performance and outstanding Client feedback sees us as a Times 100 listed Top Law firm to work for, and achieving top listings for the services we provide. We are now 450 people, including 272 lawyers and legal executives and 72 Partners – based across the South East of England and London with ambitious plans to become the best regional law firm to work for.

About the role

Our Legal Assistants are a critical part of our team who undertake a mix of both administrative duties, and providing outstanding service to our Clients, assisting them with queries, client on-boarding and other regulatory checks/requirements. You’ll work within a collaborative team who truly value each other’s input and support.

In addition to administrative duties and Client contact, you’ll also be involved in assisting with other financial/commercial matters. This includes but is not limited to making payments and overseeing general financial management, preparing and assisting with engagement letters and handling new client enquiries.

Our Court of Protection Team is responsible for helping and supporting individuals with diminished mental capacity, and they do so in a truly caring way – this relates back to our core values as a firm, including always being ‘Human First’. If you have an interest in helping others, this role will enable you to do so in an environment that gives you the opportunity to quickly develop and learn new skills.

What we look for…

We are a friendly team who look for the same. You may be a law graduate seeking to kick-start your career in the industry, or a Legal Assistant (or similar) seeking a fresh challenge. Either way, the ideal candidate will be passionate about helping others in what is often a challenging time for our Clients. This role entails contact with our clients and internal Partners, so excellent communication and interpersonal skills are key to being successful in this role. Our Legal Assistants play an essential role in ‘keeping things moving’, and as such you’ll like to take on lots of responsibility, working with direction and under your own initiative whilst taking a proactive approach to your work.

If you have an eye for detail, a friendly approachable style and enjoy working in a role where no two days are the same, we’d strongly encourage you to apply.
