Job Description

We are now recruiting for a Paralegal to join our Commercial Dispute Resolution team in Glasgow. As a Paralegal you will report into a team manager and work as part of a team of assistant paralegals and paralegals.


Your Role

As a Paralegal your remit will cover the following;

  • Opening files, conflict checking, organising documents including ongoing file management such as filing, photocopying, scanning, closing.
  • Creating and maintaining excel spreadsheets, databases, portals.
  • Ordering and reviewing documents from the Land Registry.
  • Billing and arranging for third parties to be paid.
  • Pre-litigation to include issuing letter before claims, telephone calls, e-mails, instructing trace reports, taking payments from customers and investigations work.
  • Liaising with customers, clients and third parties.
  • Manage a volume case load of matters working from a case management system to include issuing claims for Judgment/Decree, Statutory Demands and Enforcing Judgment/Decree.
  • Managing key dates
  • Work with assistant paralegals who will support your role.
  • Supporting team manager on any assigned tasks.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Understanding of debt recovery processes in Scotland (experience in England & Wales debt recovery would be advantageous)
  • Experience in investigations and problem solving
  • Experience of working within a volume caseload environment
  • Confident managing multiple cases simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a strict regulatory environment
  • Good communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Accuracy, good organisational skills and flexibility.
  • Good knowledge of Word and Outlook is required and experience in Excel and PDF would be beneficial.
  • Experience within asset finance would be advantageous
