We are looking for paralegals to join our personal injury and medical negligence team at Co-op Legal Services.

In this role, you’ll contact new clients who have made an enquiry about our medical negligence services. Many of these clients will have had life changing or ending set of circumstances for themselves or a family member, so we’d look to you to handle each call with empathy and provide an outstanding client journey. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and build your career in medical negligence within a fast-growing business that’s constantly evolving.

What you’ll do:

  • make initial contact with clients who have enquired through a high volume of webform/PPC/inbound calls in relation to new medical negligence enquiries
  • take a chronology of what has happened to the client and get a thorough understanding of how the incident has affected the client
  • make sure that all history notes are recorded within our case management system
  • send cases over to a fee earner when required and send cases to be risk assessed when required
  • follow contact strategy where clients haven’t been able to answer the phone
  • collect and chase for complaint correspondence when required
  • compassionately talk with clients in relation to their outcomes

This role would suit people who have:

  • previous experience of handling new client enquiries within medical negligence
  • great organisational skills with a keen eye for detail
  • the ability to prioritise work to meet our service level agreements
  • excellent telephone manner with the ability to communicate professionally and sensitively with clients
  • the ability to work well individually and within a team

Why Co-op?

Here you’ll do work that matters. We’re a commercial organisation with a purpose beyond profit, you’ll have an opportunity to help us build a stronger Co-op and stronger communities. You’ll also get a package that includes:
  • competitive salary
  • coaching, training and support to help you develop
  • pension with up to 10% employer contributions
  • annual incentive scheme
  • 28 days holiday (rising to 32 in line with service) plus bank holidays
  • discounts on Co-op products and services
  • Wagestream - a money management app that gives you access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it

We want to build inclusive work environments, where our colleagues have equal opportunities to reach their full potential. We celebrate our differences, and recognise the importance of our teams reflecting the communities they serve.

If you have a disability, we can make reasonable adjustments to our recruitment process according to your needs. We're also part of the Disability Confident scheme, meaning we'll always offer an interview to disabled candidates who apply through the scheme if they meet the minimum criteria for a job.

We'll ask whether you’d like to be considered under the Disability Confident scheme when you apply.

If we invite you to take part in the recruitment process for any of our jobs, we’ll ask you if you need any reasonable adjustments to enable you to participate.
