Location: All OWC office locations (Surrey & South-West London)
Job type: Permanent / Full-time (part-time would be considered)

The Paralegal Role
Owen White and Catlin LLP are seeking high calibre, motivated and ambitious paralegals to join our team. In return we can offer a clear and rewarding career structure from solicitors through to equity partner. We can provide a range of seats in both contentious and non-contentious matters.
Key responsibilities of Paralegal include:

  • Managing all new client documentation and the administration of opening and closing files
  • Maintaining an effective and ordered filing system for allocated cases
  • Preparing of client invoicing and managing banking slips
  • Assisting clients with updates when fee earner is not available
  • Ensure compliance with professional standards and the firm’s policies in general
  • Preparing bundles
  • Conducting legal research
  • Drafting legal documents
  • Case handling under supervision, providing excellent Client care to ensure Clients’ satisfaction, making best endeavours to convert new leads into new cases
  • Preparing court forms and statements under supervision
  • Drafting of legal documents / correspondence under supervision
  • Ensuring compliance with the relevant Procedure Rules and SRA Code of Conduct
  • Appropriate use of time recording software in accordance with company procedures and management requests, i.e. recording of new enquiries for the reporting purposes, keeping tasks assigned up to date, etc
  • Dealing with incoming enquiries either from other Offices, Courts or from potential new Clients, redirecting enquiries to appropriate person

As a Paralegal it is essential you can demonstrate the following skills and competencies:

  • Experience working as a paralegal/assistant within a law firm is desirable
  • Ability to establish and maintain good client relationships, both internally and externally at all levels
  • Competence in Microsoft Office products
  • Calm, confident manner to handle potentially uncomfortable conversations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous legal work experience or academic knowledge
  • Good attention to detail
  • The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines

Our office hours are 9am to 5pm with 1-hour unpaid lunch break (35 hours a week)
