Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an immigration paralegal to work in a small friendly and supportive environment, offering a competitive starting salary and where candidates have a great opportunity to progress their career. Our team is growing and we would like you to be part of it.

Ideal candidates will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Assisting fee earners with the conduct of their cases;
  • Liaising with clients directly;
  • Drafting correspondence to clients, the Home Office and the Tribunal;
  • Undertaking legal research; using a variety of online and reference sources.
  • Preparing applications on behalf of clients to submit to the Home Office;
  • Reviewing documents and preparing appeal bundles;
  • Arranging appointments at the UK Visas and Immigration and liaising with the visa agent;
  • General administration;
  • Managing caseload from start to finish.
  • To undertake casework and manage a caseload up to a level of accreditation for legal aid work;
  • Methodically analyse and summarise issues; find solutions and communicate them effectively.
  • Must be willing to work towards Level 1 and/or Level 2 Immigration Accreditation. The firm will be willing to provide you training;

Desirable criteria:

  • Degree level education with Legal background, could be through legal practice, similar paralegal jobs or studies or equivalent or LLB or law-related degree.
  • Ability to formulate detailed legal representations.
  • Ability to work under pressure, and meet deadlines and contract targets.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise own work.
  • An understanding and sensitivity to other cultures and commitment to Equal Opportunities.
  • You should also have commercial awareness and practical IT skills. It is essential that you have strong ethical standards, fantastic team spirit, but most importantly be humble and passionate about the work carried out.

Knowledge of an additional language will be preferred. This role can lead to a training contract opportunity in future.

Please note that you should be able to commute to the head office in Northenden, Manchester.

Pay: £21,000.00 per year (Negotiable depending on experience)
