Job Description

Paralegal – Clinical Negligence

HCC Solicitors

We are looking to recruit a Paralegal to join our Clinical Negligence team.
The successful candidate will offer assistance to the team with their cases whilst being able to gain some valuable experience in a well-established, long standing firm. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and willing to learn, with an interest in medical law. Full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Taking new enquiries, preparing a detailed note as to facts, researching issues where appropriate and thereafter liaising with the team as to whether the case is taken on.
  • Arranging initial client sign up, and obtaining of medical mandates.
  • Must be able to have a confident manner on the telephone, self-motivate and manage own workload.
  • To use initiative and maintain awareness of overall task/outcome.
  • To diarise, chase and all other aspects required with external parties re disclosure
  • Research using internal and external resources
  • Assisting Clinical Negligence Solicitors on their caseloads with an array of tasks.
  • Working to court deadlines
  • Assisting with file organization
  • Drafting letters
  • Drafting Court documents and other documents such as witness statements (covering but not limited to liability and quantum) and Schedules of Loss
  • Liaising with Counsel and Medical experts.
  • Attending/assisting and note taking in conferences, client visits and hearings.
  • Reviewing extensive documents including medical records and thereafter drafting Chronology, providing analysis and consideration on impact on the claim.
  • Diary Management and Spreadsheet Management
  • Use of in-house case management system
  • Keeping in constant touch with the clients to ensure communication and continuous workflow.
  • At times the team deal with sensitive information and as such full GDPR training will be provided and must be adhered to at all times. Must be comfortable discussing at times sensitive information by telephone and in person.
  • Where necessary undertaking administrative tasks to assist the department.
  • Maintaining awareness of the Civil Procedure Rules and their application to the Multi-Track process

Pay: From £24,000.00 per year

Experience:
