Job Description

Our Wills, Trusts and Estates department is growing and we are looking for Paralegals to join our busy Lifetime Planning team, based in our Cheadle Hulme office. The team work with private clients to ensure all their wills, probate and estate-related matters run smoothly so you will be responsible for providing efficient administration support across the team. This is an Office based position.

Requirement:

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a paralegal Will writing position.
  • Must have at least LPC/SQE and Law Degree.
  • At least 3 year’s experience principally involved in handling Estate and Tax Planning, Estate Administration, LPAs, Will writing, Trusts, Disputes & Probate.
  • Experienced Paralegal with a minimum 3 years’ experience of managing own case load.
  • Supervise, coach and guide the Will writing team.
  • A knowledge of Arken will be an advantage
  • A knowledge of Proclaim will be an advantage
  • Not essential but beneficial - Residential Conveyancing experience, aware of the Law Society Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS).

The successful candidate:

  • A paralegal with a passionate understanding of the law and practice surrounding Estate and Tax Planning, Estate Administration, LPAs, Wills, Trusts, Disputes, probate, and conveyancing.
  • The confidence and the ability to react to change whilst working within a pressurised environment.
  • The ability to work on a paperless case management system - Proclaim preferred experience.
  • The ability to be an enthusiastic, committed team player, with great people skills.
  • Good organisational, time management and IT skills.
  • The ability to multi-task under pressure.
  • Track record of reviewing files and ensuring high compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to create and nurture relationships at all levels.
  • Dynamic approach to be able to work individually and within a collective team environment.
  • A keen eye for detail

  • Excellent standards of client care and great communication skills
  • Ability to identify and handle clients who may have mental capacity issues.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide paralegal support and assistance to clients and their team.
  • Work alongside our consultants/lawyer(s) and assist with the administration of estates and drafting documentation and ensuring all legal documents are prepared and filed correctly.
  • Research and analyse relevant laws and regulations to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
  • Prepare and file court documents and other legal documents related to probate and estate administration.
  • Clear understanding of Money Laundering Regulations and Solicitors Accounts Rules.
  • Support clients on the best course of action to take in probate and estate administration matters.
  • Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations and advise clients accordingly.
  • Maintain client files and records.
  • Liaise with other legal professionals and external parties as required.
  • Be a keen participant in the development of our LPA, Wills, Trusts, and Probate teams.
  • Maintain and enhance up-to-date legal skills of self.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to £35,000.00 per year
