Position Summary:
Responsibilities: Assists in drafting legal documents such as pleadings, discovery requests, and correspondence, ensures accuracy and adherence to legal standards under the guidance of attorneys. Prepares for hearings, depositions, and trials by organizing exhibits, coordinating witness interviews, and drafting deposition summaries under attorney direction. Supports the discovery phase of litigation by conferring with clients to obtain information, drafting discovery responses, and summarizing discovery responses received from other parties. Conducts factual investigations and gathers evidence to assist attorneys, prepares legal arguments, motions, and briefs, including legal citations and references. Drives investigation by procuring, reviewing, and summarizing pertinent records in an accurate manner while meeting all deadlines specified in the task assignment. Supports the review and analysis of contracts, policies, and legal documents, identifies relevant provisions and potential issues to support attorney decision-making. Supports the trial phase of litigation by driving trial preparation activities such as file organization, witness notification, subpoena preparation and creating trial notebooks. Communicates with clients, attorneys, and external parties, provides updates, schedules meetings, and facilitates information exchange as part of the legal support team. Updates legal databases, case files, and records, ensures accessibility and organization of information for efficient support in legal proceedings. Provides essential administrative support to attorneys, manages calendars, schedules appointments, and handles correspondence efficiently. Coordinates with external vendors and service providers, like court reporters and process servers, to ensure seamless legal proceedings support. Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of work experience as Paralegal with a Bachelor’s degree. Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Law and Paralegal preferred. Any other related discipline or commensurate work experience considered. Licenses & Certifications: Prescribed: Minimum requirements for licenses to practice law in relevant jurisdiction(s) Preferred: Certified Paralegal (CP), Accredited Legal Professional (ALP), Certified Legal Professional (CLP) or Professional Paralegal (PP) Ryan Specialty is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
